Doing Time
How many people live in traps which they cannot see, or which they accept or rationalize? How many people just play out the cards dealt them in this life, thinking there isn't any more to life than this? How many people ever suspect they are living in a prison world for the soul or spirit, which is designed to acquaint them to evil and to remove them from Light?
Of course, there are actual penitentiaries, for the "penitent." But, how many are actually freed from evil or wrongdoing? Prisons are full of people who did not know better, who did not know how to escape the traps of evil, drugs, abuse, poverty, injustice, or ignorance. They are full of people who are illiterate, who had no real chance in life.
But, then, how many of us have a real "chance" in life; how many get out of this alive? Life on planet Earth is a death sentence; the only question is, how long is the sentence, and what will be the means of execution? Who in this world is not waiting on "death row"? Doesn't this give you a bit more compassion for those, who, "there but for fortune, go your or I"?
"I have been studying how I may compare
This prison where I live unto the world." — William Shakespeare
We are all doing time in this physical world
Everyone lives within their own prison, here, if not a physical one than one of the mind, perhaps. And, there are prisons even within this prison world. All prison systems are efficient energy extractors for Evil, with internal systems of violence, exploitation, and abuse which ensure more suffering for the less evil. Rehabilitation is minimal, suffering maximal, on purpose. Prison is Hell. It does not deter crime but has the opposite effect. It trains criminals. And, the way it treats human beings — with total dehumanization and crushing of their spirits — is even more telling about our society.
People in prison are often those who have never learned how to protect themselves from evil or wrongdoing, and as a result, put that on others. Then they are sent someplace where there is more evil, away from the Light, and somehow are expected to learn their lessons and get better? The stark reality of prison life is an appropriate metaphor for what many people experience living on Earth.
Of course there are people in prison who have committed crimes. But, as you may realize, more than a few of them are essentially good people, not evil. They have been programmed and conditioned since birth to give in to evil pressure, and yield to the impulse of crime. This does not excuse those who hurt, exploit, and abuse others. Many people commit crimes due to the influence of drugs and alcohol. Drugs are a source of massive negative programming; they even allow a person to be possessed (temporarily or all the time) by demonic entities.
It is one of the great myths of society that the good people are sleeping in their homes while the bad ones are in jail. There are a lot of good people in the institutions of prisons and mental hospitals. Who are the worst offenders in society? George Bernard Shaw observed, "The faults of the burglar are the qualities of the financier." The most evil people never go to jail. They are the most favored elite in politics, business, law, finance, medicine, religion, and every other imaginary "helping" system in society. These are the people who are most successful at ensuring that the status quo continues unchanged, that the less fortunate suffer. They profit by the suffering of the oppressed and exploit their suffering — and are quick to condemn those who do not "succeed" in the evil system.
Society, social conditioning, programming, ego, emotion, and even common physical urges, lead people to break the law when they should otherwise know better. They do not have much of a chance. The system is not there to help them to do what is right but only to punish them when they inevitably do wrong. Human beings are forced into endless lives of suffering and exploitation, purposefully. The spirit is imprisoned in the physical body, which cuts off spiritual awareness and connection with its Source, and then punished for being unaware."
Good people may even come to believe that they are somehow evil; but Evil is not their essence, their being, or their true intention. Rather, it is the way of the world that relentlessly seeks to inhabit their lives, to take over their choices, to bring them further suffering.
Evil is a spiritual-psychic disease which pervades this world. It infects people's minds, their behavior, their unquestioned roles in life. It lives in their souls, and unless it is very strongly rejected, it rules their lives.
We need the power of spiritual Good to overcome spiritual Evil. The Light of God and Christ is the answer to overcoming darkness. Christ is here to liberate us from wrong, evil, darkness.
