Darkness or Light

  • Reverend R. T.

Life in this world is a battle between spiritual Darkness and Light.

You are largely a product of the culture and environment you live in. You live in this world, and it lives in you. There is much Darkness in the world, and it takes a real effort to understand it, perceive it, and reject it, to minimize the extent to which it lives through you. The agenda of all of the most powerful forces in this world — government, organized religion, science and technology, the media, pop culture, and so on — is to maximize the extent to which they control you, and shape your thinking, your choices, and your behavior. They want the power to rule you, and they do, to the extent that they somehow convince, manipulate, or force you to abandon your own inner-directedness, conscience, or common sense.

They are a tyranny of the mind, soul, and spirit. And, the solution, the only answer to all of the relentlessly oppressive forces in life, is to learn to live less as a product of your environment, pop culture, and social indoctrination, and more as your true inner spiritual being. In other words, you need to come closer to the Light, the Divine, or Christ, that would dwell in you, instead of the worldly Darkness, lies, confusion, and illusions.

You choose to live in Darkness or Light. It is a choice, your choice.

"I am the Light. Whoever follows me will never walk in Darkness, but will have the Light of eternal life." — Jesus

For most people, life is not getting any easier, in our modern world. If anything, there is greater stress, anxiety, and pressure to keep up or get ahead. Especially when you think of the millions of people who are prescribed endless medications in order to simply cope with life. Or the billions of people who were coerced into taking gene modifying experimental drugs that were never tested, safe, or effective. But are causing enormous harm, suffering, disability, and death. You must know, others benefit by your unawareness, gullibility, ignorance, or mindless conformity to authority. When you can see wrong, evil, darkness for what it is, you must reject it; say, I want no part of this.

Few of us are really prepared for life. We struggle through or fail at finances, work, education, relationships, and our own physical care. Many succumb to the dark forces which await us: addictions of all kinds, reliance upon drugs and alcohol to numb our pain or our awareness. You may not realize the ultimate challenges you face, especially spiritually. It is easier to be unaware, to not wake up and see the Light. But when you open your heart to Jesus, you do wake up and see the Light. You finally find the one true authority to lead your life, to guide your spirit, to help liberate you from darkness. Thank God.

Listen to the “still, small voice” within you

It's Christ's voice. It's the Way, the Truth, and the Life. But, the more you are distracted by all the external noise, confusion, lies, deceit, propaganda, indoctrination, fake news, distractions, corruption, and misguided agendas, the less able you are to hear it. Which is their intention. Because you will only truly know or see or hear the truth within you, in a place of stillness, quiet realization, and simple knowingness. That is where you may find the Light, the Truth, and God’s Will for you.

Live with God's grace. But realize there is still work to do in this world, to move forward, to move out of darkness and into the light. The Light reveals Darkness for what it is. You may not necessarily see a "light," but you will see all the present darkness and pitfalls and deception more clearly. And be better able to avoid them. You will find that you have a choice when you see what is wrong, to go along with it or not. You need to continue to choose what you see to be right, good, and true for you, and let go of what is not. That is your own personal responsibility, and your personal overcoming of darkness, with Christ.

"Light will guide you Home"

The still, small voice within you speaks the truth to you, with love. But, you need to be quiet, inside, to hear it. Otherwise it is drowned out by the noise in your head. Think of how hard it is to hear a whisper in a room full of noisy people or loud music. This is the typical state of the human mind. It is loud and noisy, almost never being quiet. It is filled with, or overshadowed by, external and internal programming, rumination, fantasy, and delusions. Instead, you need to find a quiet inner state in which to actually hear the truth within you. Some people make time for allowing the mind to get quieter, as in meditation, on a regular basis.

At times, the still, small voice speaks in words, other times in images, or, perhaps, some wordless message that you can feel. Pay attention. It does not shout over the noise you have in your head.

Spend time with God, Jesus, Christ, in your heart. You will find the Way. You are closer to God, and God is closer to you, than you think. God only cares about what is in your heart, not anything of the outer world, not your education, not your ability to recite chapter and verse, not your position or title in the church, not anything of the outer world. God simply looks at you, who you are, not what the world would have you be. God sees you, your inner being, the good in you. Practice seeing that in yourself, too.

People often think that they will see everything as “light” when they are spiritually awake, "enlightened," or in the Light of God. No, Darkness does not disappear when you see more clearly in the Light. Rather, you may see Darkness and Evil and the Lie more clearly for what it is.

We need to see the difference between right and wrong, or all wrong in society becomes “right,” and a means to an end. True discernment comes as a simple inner knowing, a simple clarity of seeing something for yourself. The Divine shines a Light on your path, and lets you see for yourself which Way you would rather choose. God does not force you. The still, small voice is true conscience.

Would Jesus require you to know and believe every word in a book, and follow it? Or learn to be guided by the Light of God, within you? You have to learn to listen to that still, small voice within you, and not mistake it for the parroting of chapter and verse, or rote memory.

Do not mistake the blind following of religious indoctrination for finding your Way; and do not seek a validation of everything you think, say, or do, in a book. The Light simply asks that you see what it shows you to be true, good, and right for yourself — and lets you choose on your own. Isn't that what a loving father or mother would do for a child? This is what God does, to raise you up, to help you overcome adversity.

The Light is a beacon — small as it might seem — which shines in Darkness. More accurately, it shines through the Darkness, despite every attempt by Darkness to suppress it or block it or corrupt it or defeat it. Learn to discern the difference between Darkness and Light — and find your way through this world — by asking for Christ, the Light, to be with you, to guide you, to shine light on your path, always.
