Grace and Gratitude

  • Reverend R. T.

The grace of God — and the promise of Jesus — is to liberate you from this world, to free you from suffering and darkness. To bring you into the Light, to bring you Home. To have eternal Life with God.

When we think of the Grace of God, we think of Love, a love which is extended to us at all times, including those times when we may feel most separate from it. The Grace of God is not something we have to earn, or work towards. It is something we need to appreciate and accept, here, now.

Grace implies gratitude, appreciation:

  • it is by appreciating the Truth that we come closer to it
  • it is by appreciating the Light that we live in it
  • it is by appreciating the basis of inner Peace that we find it
  • it is by finding the Love of God in our own heart, that we realize the Grace of God, the saving Grace of a Supreme Being who will not be made separate from us, who is always there for us. Always.

The Light of God, the blessing or Grace of God, the liberating power of God, is eternal; it is here, now. God has a presence, a consciousness, a Being, which transcends space and time. God can be aware of you, your life, and your true needs, at any moment, wherever you may be. All it takes, at times, is for you to reach out to God, the Highest Good, the Truth, the Light, the Love that you seek. And, the first step is to realize that God's Grace is there, for you.

At each and every moment of your life it is possible to move closer to the Truth, Love, Light, and Peace of God. God's Grace is directly available to you, without any intermediary, at each and every moment of your life, without having to go anywhere or go to anyone to receive it. Know that, deeply.

God's Grace is a saving grace

It is an inspiration or force of change. It is not there to keep you exactly where you are, in your thinking, in your choices, in your actions, in your addiction, in your worldly life. It is there to change you. Do not think of God's Grace as that which allows you to live exactly as you are, accepts you as you are, loves you as you are, and prefers you to remain exactly as you are. Jesus came to SAVE you from the world, not to make you comfortable in it.

Jesus said you may be in the world but you must not be of the world. Jesus came to help save you from the world, not to elevate you in it, not to sustain the wrongs in your life, not to keep you spiritually blind, not to comfort you in your ego and illusions. But to free you.

The Grace of God is the spiritual strength and power to change, to overcome, to confront wrong and evil, to renounce and reject them, not to mindlessly accept them or remain unaware of them. The Grace of God is a greater awareness which helps you to see what is right and what is not, for your self, so that you can choose to change. The Grace of God is the greater Light and Truth, which frees you.

Be healed now

First, do the simple process of connecting with the Highest within you. It is your awareness of Being. Being with Christ. In your own heart.

Continue the exercise:

Keeping your hand over your heart, raise your other hand in front of you or above your head. Imagine or feel the healing presence of God in your heart. Feel the Love in your heart, drawing upon even more Love of God.

Close your eyes, and picture in your mind, the Light of God pouring down upon you from above you. See it as a golden light, soothing you, filling you, releasing any hurts, anything that you wish to be released from. Breathe in the healing Light.

Repeat the following, keeping your hand over your heart:
        I am healed with Christ.
        I am healed with Love.
        I am healed with Truth.
I am healed with the Light of God.
I am healed in accordance with God’s Will for me.

You can keep doing this for a few minutes, as long as you wish. When you are ready, gently open your eyes and let your hands rest. Give thanks for the help you have been given.

"Not in entire forgetfulness,
And not in utter nakedness,
But trailing clouds of glory do we come
From God, who is our home."

— Wordsworth

The Grace of God will strengthen you in every way in your life, and bring you Home when you leave this world. Not to "eternal rest" but to eternal Life. Life without suffering, pain, death, darkness or evil. That is the Promise of Jesus.

Begin anew

God is as close to you as your own breath, closer. Give up any other ideas you have been indoctrinated with, concerning God or your relationship to God. Begin anew, with a new mind, an open and glad heart. Know that God loves you. God has always loved you and never left you. God dwells in your heart right now. Feel it. Let yourself feel the love in your own heart. That is God's Love. That is the Love of God for you. God cares about you; God wants to inspire you to come closer to the Light and the Truth in your heart, to be free. That is all God truly asks of you.

Find your Peace in that, and let go of all the hurt, the pain, the suffering, the despair, the feelings of isolation, loneliness, or separation. Be with God. Know God in your inner being; feel the Good that dwells there, in the core of your being. And live from there. Take time to encourage and develop that relationship, to acknowledge it, to honor and respect it; it is worth it. You are worth it. The Spirit and Grace of God are with you now.
