Alcohol and Drugs

  • Reverend R. T.

Alcohol and drugs are pervasive; they are available in every community. And, they are always self-negating in their larger effect, regardless of the social acceptance or comfort they may appear to provide. It isn't alcohol or drugs that is abused, but rather the person using them (and/or those around them).

Now, every drug is legal in Portland, Oregon. The homeless in cities across America are living in socially accepted drug dens; everyone uses drugs and alcohol. And it's killing them. The latest drugs including fentanyl have a horrific effect on users. By now, you probably realize that what is socially (or legally) acceptable or even encouraged by society is not necessarily right, good, or true, but is more likely self-destructive in its ultimate effect. There is a larger breakdown in society, and it is unhuman in origin and effect.

That some addictive drugs such as alcohol, nicotine, and cannabis are available legally, and have been condoned by society (now or in the past), does not make them any less destructive. The fact that alcohol has customarily been a part of social, business, and even religious activities does not make it "good" or right.

You have to be more wise than that. There is your society and there is you: the individual. Are you strong enough to resist the self-destructive programming of your society, your culture, your "group"? Do you realize that all of the anti-human social ills, agenda, and destruction is sponsored by Satan. It is the work of spiritual Darkness, to separate us not only from our true self, our true being, but from our spiritual source, God.

Whatever separates us from God is simply not in our best interest, no matter how popular it might be. No matter how it is erroneously labeled "freedom." Yes, we have free will of God. But, no, God does not want us to surrender our lives, our souls, our spirits to all that is wrong, evil, and a self-destructive lie. Satan is a liar and murderer from the beginning. And Satan is the advocate of "do what you will," regardless of true conscience.

God, Christ, Jesus came to save us from all that

Not because we happen to call it "evil." This isn't just some arbitrary moral judgment by some do-gooder. The truth is, there is an unseen and unacknowledged force operating in your world, your nation, your community, your family, your life — and you — which is hell-bent on destruction. Anyone with the least amount of awareness can see this, all around us, today. There is a growing force of Darkness in this world.

Darkness completely narrows your view, your understanding, your awareness, your focus — while pretending to make you more aware, and more free. It is a Lie, and it has been that way from the beginning, when the Serpent whispered sweet nothings in someone's ear.

This is a brief life. What comes after this is: forever. We all have a personal choice to make: Darkness or Light. That choice will be forever. And it is an entirely personal, individual choice. No one else — not anyone, not a priest, not a politician, not the media, not your peers, not your society, not the group you identify with — has any role, any say, in this choice.

It is between you and God, Christ, Jesus. It is a choice you make — that each and every one of us makes — in your own heart. No matter what we may go through in this life, no matter how good or bad, we still have to make this spiritual choice, in our heart, because we are spiritual beings. All of us. And we have a spiritual fate.

It is not God's judgment of us. It is our own judgment of ourselves.

The more a person abuses themselves with alcohol or drugs, and the more addicted they may be — whether they acknowledge it or deny it — the less worthy they may feel as a human being. This is Satan's plan, to make us feel unworthy of God and Christ. To steal our spiritual fate and our souls. To keep us from God, forever.

Many good people, seeking escape from this world's problems, fall into the even greater hell of drug or alcohol addiction.

Christ is here to save you from that.

Be aware, you cannot find True spiritual salvation and liberation with "consciousness expanding" or mind altering drugs. No matter how benign the name, such as "Ecstasy," or how many other people use a given drug, there are no safe highs. All drugs concentrate negative energy, and wind up suppressing or displacing the True inner being. Those who use drugs often think they are in control; they make their world so small that it seems manageable. But they are living in denial. Consider the ultimate, sole, focus of the addict: their fix. They can think of nothing else; their world has gotten so small; and their illusory sense of relief or escape is their only desire. Clearly, they do not manage well in the world at that point.

Drugs are not just a problem on the physical level — that is the least affected aspect. What happens on the mental, emotional, and spiritual levels is much worse. All you have to do is look at a street person, and see where that road leads. Nowhere good. Nowhere we would want anyone to wind up. We pray for them. God help us all.

There is a better way than giving in to all the pressures of life — by no longer accepting what ultimately defeats you. Christ is the better Way. Accepting Jesus in your own heart is the answer. It is what we have all been looking for. The world has put so many things in the way of our realizing the True Way. But, we can still find God in our own heart. God loves us so much, that God takes up residence in our heart — if we choose it.

If you are sincere, God, Christ, Jesus will be with you, and can be found in your own heart. Here. Now. God is with you.

There is a simple Way.
