Simplicity
There is a true spiritual simplicity, a Way of living, a way to come closer to the Truth, Love, and Light within us. It is, simply, how we choose to live, in each moment.
Simplicity is about simply being you, your true self. It is more a quality of being than doing. Life tends to get very complicated if you are running around trying to be something you are not.
Most people spend their lives trying to be what they are not. Human life is usually defined in terms of "doing" rather than simply "being." But, if you are a human being, what does "being" mean to you? Have you found your true, spiritual, inner being, within you? Or are you missing something?
Got Jesus? Life is so terribly complicated and hard until you let God lead, from within. You have to know who God is in you, and who you are in God. Everything else comes after that.
How many people try to find their identity somewhere out there, in the world — trying to take their sense of self from their society, their culture, their peers, their programming, their desires, or their worldly successes? We tend to take "being" for granted. We don't look inside for who we are but take our identity from just about anything outside us: from a sports team, a baseball cap, a brand of beer, a hair style, a pop star, our job, our political beliefs, and so on. We lose our connection with, sense of, and purpose in being.
How many people fill their lives or their children's lives with so many tasks, projects, and activities, that they simply do not let them be? Children today have epidemic attention deficit disorder; they are unable to simply quietly sit and be.
Ask yourself: What is wrong with quietly being, or just being with your self? Why is that insufficient or unsatisfactory? Have you ever spent any quiet time with your self? That means: no video or music blaring, no other persons, no sporting events, no entertainment, no distractions, ... nothing but you, your self. most people find this intolerable. They can't stand to be with themselves. Why is that?
"Being" is so simple, so natural, so much a part of us that it escapes our attention. We are quite aware of what we are "doing," but "being" is just too quiet, too unmoving, too unnoticed. And so, we have little sense of who we truly are, on a deeper level. Countless problems arise from not knowing how to simply be who we are, or from trying to be what we are not.
It is often the case that people are rejecting a quiet, inner being — a spirit of Peace, Love, and Light — the more they set about "seeking" and "accomplishing" out in the world. Jesus said you may be in the world but you should not be of the world. He said to "be," be the inner spiritual being, and not become a product of the outer world. How many so-called Christians, running around doing, doing, doing, ignore that advice? How many have taken a book, and a set of dogmas written by man, and made themselves or their lives a product of that external thing, rather than a simple, quiet expression of inner, spiritual Being? Every time you see a television preacher, with his or her multi-million dollar organization, and all their prayer lines, and their endless yapping, ask yourself: Why are they distracting me from my own, quiet, inner spiritual Being?
There is a simple Way to be with God, here, now. Do not overlook it because it is so simple.
Solutions to problems are often a form of simplification
They may have, in hindsight, a certain simplicity, obviousness, or elegance. What is difficult is to gain that perspective on this side of the problem. It is often easier to see your way beyond a problem when you are not in the middle of it; that is the worst time. Before you get lost in it, you may be able to see your way around it, through it, or past it. You can see what it might look like on the other side. Once you are in the midst of it, you often cannot see anything at all.
How many people realize their true purpose in life? How many refuse to accept anything as simple as finding inner peace, contentment, and happiness, now — here, now? Most are programmed to rush off and do something, get something, buy something, win something, build something, or master something ... without ever mastering themselves.
Simplify. Get to the essence of things. Let go of attachment to complexity. Much complexity is unnecessary, limiting, and unwise; it is just problems breeding problems. People welcome complexity because they feel it gives them more relevance or importance. Or a higher pay check. Bureaucrats manufacture complexity; it is a way of creating job security. But, in our own lives, in the choices we make, there is always a way to simplify.
Do you think it might be enough to just be you? To just be with you? To just be, and not have to always be doing?
Be with Jesus in your heart. Then decide what you need to add to your life, if anything. It can be that simple.
When we leave this world, we take nothing with us. We are forced to let go of everything; we are forced to simplify. There is no arguing, no bargaining, no trying to maximize our profits or investment returns ... no trying to get the best or latest or newest or fastest or most powerful or most desirable ....
You can mentally, emotionally, and spiritually simplify your life even while you are yet in this world. You don't have to die to let go of things that oppress you, or trouble you, or bring you suffering. Or, do you? Is your life that complex and out of control?
